In the full script method, the writer has more control as he is the one to decide how many panels there should be on each page, the characters presented in the panels, the sequence of each scene and the dialogue. In the plot-art-dialogue method, it is the artist who is in control of the comic. The writer has to give the outline of the story along with a few dialogues for the different events that take place in the story. Then the artist starts drawing the events and characters and decides on the panels per page. Once the artist finishes his part, the content is passed onto the writer to add the remaining dialogues of the story.
Before you start writing, you should have the structure of the story in place. Do not write with the flow of your thoughts. You should have the whole story or a rough idea of the story in your mind. Your content should be clear and each sequence should have clarity and continuity. This will provide a clear picture to the artist. You cannot broaden your thoughts or ideas in this form of writing. Instead, you have to stay focused on the flow of the story by giving very precise descriptions.
The storyline should be fast-paced and dialogues should only be used when required. Remember, this style of writing is very compact. The pace is important to keep the reader’s interest in the story. Your main character should be interesting for the reader.
