X-Men – The Comic Series

Written by Stan Lee and with subtle artwork of Jack Kirby, Xmen came in to existence. In the original animated series of X Men, it was only 5 men army, and with time, as the series evolved, so did the characterization. The original characters that formed the solid base of X-Men force mutants included Cyclops, Iceman, Angel, Beast and Jean Grey. The name X-Men signifies to the X Gene, which has been responsible for the mutation in the members, and has given them all the super human power to fight the evil Mutants, which are increasing in number on the earth.

The amazing next generation force is created by Professor X, also named as Professor Xavier at his own Westchester mansion in New York. He uses his scientific intellect to educate and instruct the X-Men force to fight a war against the evil mutants and free the society of the bad elements. Since its creation in 1960s, Xmen has undergone a sea change in the characters. Cyclops is the only stationary character of the entire series that has passed down unchanged from series after series. Evil mutants in the original Xmen comprised, Magneto, Mastermind, Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch and last of all, the Toad.

What’s more, the original X-Men series had uniformity and congruity in terms of ethnicity and religiousness, and the complete characterization was based on WASP-type model. However, with the changing times, the characterization also changed phenomenally to the liking of the audience. During the 1960′s version of X-Men there was only one character addition by the name of Mimic/Calvin Rankin. However, he left the scene very soon due to the fact that his power lost the sheen and he was not liked by the audience at that time.

The 1969 version of the X-Men was written by Roy Thomas and the art was done by Neal Adams. There were two new characters were rolled by the name of Havok/Alex Summers and Lorna Dane, or Polaris. The character of Polaris was created by Arnold Drake and Jim Steranko. These introductions made no increase in the sales chart of the cartoon series, and there was a complete end to the story production by Marvel.

X-Men is an interesting anime series that has taken kids and adults by amazements, and moreover, the entire series has something or other exciting happening all the time. Enjoy the X-Men series character and plot as you pass on from one series to other.
